ABBOTT’S ETHICS REFORM BILL PASSES GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The genesis of Delegate Abbott’s House Bill 655 came out of a strong conviction to uphold the public’s trust in their elected officials, a commitment the Delegate publicly promoted throughout her run for office in 2009 and through her first session as Delegate from the 93rd District.

"If this law passes, Virginia will be unique, and not in a good way, with the highest amount of damage that doesn’t have to be disclosed. Most states require that ANY previous water damage to the vehicle be revealed, with a few states allowing our present amount, $1000, to be shielded."

RICHMOND, VA 12:30PM – Wednesday January 27th , 2010 – Delegate Robin Abbott today on the floor of the House Chamber session argued in opposition to House Bill 392; vehicles damaged by water, which would raise the existing threshold for reporting water damage during the buying and selling of an automobile from $1000 to $5000 in Virginia. Delegate Abbott, backed in support by other House Democrats and a litany of qualified and accredited consumer advocacy organizations, posed direct questions to the real-life ramifications of such a bill to citizens of the Commonwealth.

Abbott, a Newport News consumer advocate and attorney, defeated long time incumbent, Phil Hamilton, who called Abbott to concede the race at 8:50 pm this evening.

Newport News VA, 4:00pm – Saturday October 3rd, 2009– Consumer Rights Advocate and House of Delegates Democratic Candidate for the 93rd District, Newport News and James City CO., Robin Abbott accompanied by Virginia Governor Tim Kaine held a DAY OF ACTION and rally this day and knocked on over 5,400 doors in one day with over 90 volunteer canvassers from all over the Commonwealth, speaking to voters in the 93RD district at their doors about her candidacy and what pressing issues matter to them. The day of canvassing was followed by a rally at Little Italy Restaurant with elected officials, over 170 volunteers and supporters, and representatives of key organizations in attendance. The evening was kicked off by Delegate Jeion Ward, followed by Governor Kaine who spoke to the concerns of our Commonwealth and of candidate Robin Abbot on her purpose, vision, and life.
