State delegates ask McDonnell to stop CSB cut
- Letter asks for a 12-month reprieve on cut that threatens to leave vulnerable people without work programs. It is signed by state Sens. John Miller, D-Newport News; Mamie Locke, D-Hampton; and Thomas Norment Jr., R-James City; and Dels. Tom Gear, R-Hampton; Jeion Ward, D-Hampton; Robin Abbott, D-Newport News; and Mamye E. BaCote, D-Newport News. The letter said all 74 voucher recipients are adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. "Many of these individuals are adults in their 50s and 60s and all of their parents and guardians are aged."

People with disabilities face losing their jobs
- Arc President/CEO Kasia Grzelkowski addressed family members of people with disabilities who stand to lose their programs at two public meetings at the agency on Thursday. The first meeting attracted more than 50 people and state Dels. Robin Abbott, D-Newport News, and G. Glenn Oder, R-Newport News. The two delegates said they would seek to reverse the $510,000 cut the Community Services Board is making in its budget in response to reductions in state support.
